Ningbo is a high-tech enterprise that is the first to have accomplished the industrialization of totally biodegradable material employing biological fermentation engineering technology in China. Our company produces PHBV (poly-β-hydroxy butyrate-co-valerate) that is a kind of natural-based polymer and is acknowledged internationally as the kind of material with 100% biodegradability.
As a kind of biopolyester, PHBV is made by bacteria and can be digested by bacteria and utterly decompose to carbon dioxide, water and biomass in soil or under composting condition. PHBV is also a kind of material with high biological compatibility and is a great barrier to water, gas and aroma. So there are possibilities of a wide range of applications with PHBV such as medical materials (suture, bone-nail), films products (mulch films, shopping bags, compost bags), disposable items (pens, tableware), packaging materials (especially for food packaging), and so on.
PHBV is derived from corn, a kind of annually renewable resources. The utilization of PHBV will help reducing the dependency on mineral resources; checking white pollution; bringing greenhouse effect under control and make a contribution to sustainable development of social economy.
Our company has been devoted to the processing techniques of PHBV. The injection molding technique is fully developed at the moment and such products have gone into mass production. Our injection molded products include bio golf tees and disposable utensils which can be heated in a microwave oven. Blowing molding, sheet extruding and coating techniques are ripe on the whole and we are perfecting the mass production processes.
